Hackney by Night (Photo Book 9)

We are deeply saddened to report that the writer of this book, Karen Falconer, recently passed away. She lived close to us and was incredibly lovely to work with - gentle, warm and insightful - and we are so grateful for the words she contributed to this make this book what it is. She was a talented writer and generous spirit. We are all very shocked and send our condolences to her friends and family.

Book 9 from the series 'East London Photo Stories'

‘Hackney By Night’ by David George. 80pp hardcover, quarter-bound, gold foiled,145 x 205mm

David George’s photographs of Hackney by night reveal urban landscapes of stillness but also strange pastoral beauty. Here is the London that we miss when we sleep. The images are accompanied by a short story by Karen Falconer that takes the reader on a parallel journey into the night of the narrator’s past and a painful memory that is unresolved...

David George has been a photographer for over thirty-five years and spent the first twenty-five working on book, advertising and editorial commissions working mainly on location with low level light situations. At present his photographic projects are all based around the social and political narratives to be found in British man-altered landscape, which he exhibits in the UK and internationally. David lives and works in East London and in 2009 co-founded the Uncertain States photography project.

This is the first edition.
